Frances Slocum State Park has been a backyard playground for me since I was born, or at least since our family moved to Trucksville when I was one. (That was when I was truly"one with nature.") As soon as I was able to ride a bike, I was able to play at Frances Slocum, although I'm so old it was before there was water in Horseshoe Lake, and not long after the little girl for whom the park was named was taken away by the indians.
Actually the first Frances Slocum Park was nearby in the city of Wilkes Barre. That's a little known fact thrown in here just to prove my age, or love of history. And this place has a lot of history, most of which is unknown and unwrittern, some of which is mine.
