Naming Rites
Files are downloaded and named with yyyymmdd+3 or 4 digits denoting the day's sequence, like 20121225-001 being the first photo taken on Christmas in the year 2012. When I process them I may add nothing, or add characters denoting certain processes. Whereas the date portion of the name reamins consistent, the processes named could change, but currently the following are common.
- cut=generally a 2x3 crop {if all caps, it was cut in processing before opening}
- crop=removing parts of the periphery with little or no regard to resulting side-ratio. {if all caps, it was cropped in processing before opening}
- p=pano, but also any stitched photo of 2 or more originals which will also become part of the name by adding their number; e.g., 20121225-001-02-04p
- b=blend, usually meaning manually taking parts from different exposures to make a whole and each exposure is mentioned in the name; e.g., 20121225-001b02 [Although HDR is not lettered in the name, if more than one original is named and there is no "b", it's and HDR.]
- n=noise reduction applied
- o=used onOne software -usually just a measure of The Golden Hour preset.
- bw=black and white
- rot=rotated from the original
- pers=one in which the perspective was altered
- v=original file was in vertical orientation
- l=original file was in landscape orientation
